Digital Accessibility Maturity Planning for Design Organizations

Awaiting Location

Studies from Deque client data shows that 67% of digital accessibility defects can be reduced during the design phase. Improvements in accessibility often lead to highly usable and delightful experiences while simultaneously reducing costs and increasing velocity making this an important investment for any type of organization.

In this session, we will align on common terminology, processes and practices, showcase which digital accessibility standards should be addressed during the design phase, identify common attributes of highly mature and accessibly minded design practices, showcase how a proactive design operation changes organizational dynamics, discuss how to enhance organizations to overcome common RACI mistakes, review successful reporting and maturity models, and learn how ROI calculators and storytelling methodologies can gain leadership support of your accessibility journey. In the final segment of the workshop, attendees will build a high-level action plan – using their specific data from a pre-attendance process –that they can start implementing as soon as they return home!

Prior to the workshop, attendees will supply a website URL of an unauthenticated, public facing website they commonly work on or want to focus on, in addition to their email address. Deque will analyze the website for digital accessibility conformance and provide the attendee with real data to use for plan-building purposes during the workshop. Attendees will access this data during the workshop and will be able to access and/or download the data for an additional 90-days post-workshop.

While this workshop will specifically addresses digital accessibility related to websites, it will also touch upon appropriate testing tools, testing timelines, and techniques for mobile applications, intranet websites, employee-facing systems, content management systems, design systems, etc.
